UK Steampunk events for the year ahead

Steampunk events range in size and duration from a simple pub or tea-room meet-up lasting a few hours, to four- or five-day, multi-venue festivals whereby an entire city centre gears up its tourism and commercial efforts to welcoming and entertaining a vast influx of costumed steampunks, along with thousands of families who come to celebrate the resulting fun and colourful spectacle.

The UK map above shows, for the year ahead, every steampunk-friendly event that the organisers have submitted the details of to this website's database. If the event date is only provisional, the marker will feature a white blob within its shape, or if it was once scheduled but has since been postponed or cancelled, it will feature a black blob to let you know that plans have changed.

The colours of the markers range roughly from cool to hot according to the expected attendance and scope of the planned steampunk activity, whilst the size of the marker relates approximately to the number of days that the event is being held for. This system of colour and size variance is unlikely to perfectly suit every individual’s priorities, but it should at least give you an at-a-glance idea of every event that is local to you, along with every major steampunk festival that you might want to travel some distance to attend.

Key to event types

1 Non-steampunk event (e.g. goth) but steampunks welcome
2 Steampunk-friendly exhibition or Xmas market etc.
3 Small-scale steampunk meet-up or photo op
4 Steampunk event with steampunk features
5 As 4 above but with traders and stalls
6 As 5 above but with evening activities

Markers with a white centre indicate that the event is PROVISIONAL (not yet confirmed).

Markers with a black centre indicate that the event has been POSTPONED or CANCELLED.

The yellow-centred marker shows the biggest annual steampunk event in the world by far: Weekend at the Asylum.

Where two markers overlap, the closest event in time is shown in front.
